Petitions & Active Campaigns

Ryanair, a major player in the global aviation industry, has been advertising flights and holidays to Dakhla, a city in Western Sahara, while marketing it as part of Morocco. This practice is deeply concerning as Western Sahara is recognized as a disputed territory by the United Nations, and this misrepresentation ignores the harsh reality of Morocco's Military Occupation of the region.

By advertising Dakhla as a Moroccan destination, Ryanair is choosing to overlook the harsh reality and human rights violations experienced by Saharawis, thus contributing to misinformation and undermining the Saharawi people's fight for self-determination. By signing our petition, you taking a stand against the further erasure of a people, their lived experience, and. their history.

You can also take direct action by filing a complaint with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The Western Sahara Campaign UK has put together a simple guide outlining how! It only takes a few minutes. Click here to submit yours.

Western Sahara Campaign UK has created a petition calling upon the UK Government and FCDO to take a principled stand for justice, international law, and human rights by taking concrete, urgent action using the UK’s position on the UN Security Council to support the Saharawi people’s right to self-determination and end the illegal occupation of Western Sahara.

The demands of the petition are that the UK:

  • Champion Self-Determination of Saharawis

  • End the Illegal Occupation of Western Sahara

  • Lead Global Accountability

It is time for the UK to stand on the side of international law, justice, and basic human dignity. By signing this petition, you demand leadership, not complicity.

The United Kingdom—as a permanent member of the UN Security Council—has a legal and moral duty to act. Silence, whilst wielding the power to take action, is complicity.
